I’m committed to global peace, service to humanity –Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said on Saturday that he was committed to global peace and service to humanity.

Obasanjo said he was created by God to play his part in peace building, pledging that he would live the rest of his life serving humanity.

The former President spoke in Abeokuta at the 20th anniversary of the Communion Faith Assembly, which also dedicated its new cathedral.

He said his attendance was to honour the pastor in charge of the church, Bishop Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, who is also the chairman of the Ogun chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria.

Obasanjo said he arrived from Sudan on Friday night and would be travelling to the United States on Sunday.

He said, “I am committed to global peace and service to humanity and I am here to play my part in peace building.

“The best way to determine a successful life is by measuring the positive impacts that life has made on other lives.”

Obasanjo said he had chosen a worthy path, from which he would not deviate.

He said he was happy to identify with CAN and its leadership in Ogun because they had continued to act as peace agents in the state.

Obasanjo commended Akin-Akinsanya for his commitment to expanding “God’s kingdom on earth” and enhancing peaceful co-existence in the state.

Also speaking on the occasion, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Chief of Staff, Salisu Shuaib, said the state acknowledged the key role that CAN was playing in sustaining peace in Ogun State.
