Abductors of three sisters in Kogi demand N100m

Three sisters have been reportedly abducted by gunmen from a community in Kogi State.

The victims were said to be sleeping in their room in the Eteh-Okofi community, Kogi-Kotonkarfe Local Government Area of the state when the gunmen went into bedroom, woke them up and marched them out at gunpoint.

A member of the victims’ family, who preferred anonymity, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 12.43am.

He said the gunmen came through the bush with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community and quietly whisked away the victims.

“The three sisters were sleeping in a room. The brothers started hearing strange noise and decided to open the door to find out what was happening. The gunmen started shooting in the air, forced their way in, abducted the sisters and led them into the bush,” the family member said.

He said that the kidnappers had established contact with the family and demanded N100m ransom.

"Actually, the abductors established contact with the family this afternoon, just about 30 minutes ago, and they were demanding N100m as ransom, but negotiation is still ongoing,” he said.

The Chairman, Kogi-Kotonkarfe Local Government Council, Isah Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident, but said he had yet to get the details.

When contacted, the spokesman for the Kogi State Police Command, ASP Williams Aya, promised to get back to our correspondent after finding out from the Divisional Police Officer of the area, but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.    ,,
