Hoodlums planning attacks against IOCs, govt facilities’

The Egi Peoples Assembly in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Council of Rivers State has alerted the state government and security agencies to an alleged plan by hoodlums to attack oil companies’ facilities in the state in the guise of #EndSARS protests.

The group maintained that the Egi Kingdom could not afford any breach of peace given the fact that the people were recovering from the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President-General of the Egi Peoples Assembly, Magnus Elemele, on Saturday during a media parley in Port Harcourt, called on the government and security agencies to avert an imminent catastrophe in the area.

He said, “Information reaching Egi Peoples Assembly in Egi clan, confirms that there are some miscreants in the guise of celebrities, who want to protest in the communities and we have advised against it because the Egi people are just coming out from out of the COVID-19 pandemic, so the Egi people do not need any form of demonstrations.

“These demonstrations, from our information, are targeted at Total Nigeria Limited and some government facilities. No demonstration should be allowed in Egi community. We are raising our voices now and saying that the government should come to the aid of Egi people.”
